The Visitation refers to him as Jeuan 5 filius Edneuetti gam ^[1]

Ieuan ab Ednyfed Gam was the son of Ednyfed Gam ab iorwerth Foel of Llys Pengwern, and his wife Gwladus ferch Llywelyn. ^[2]

Ieuan ab Ednyfed Gam. John Skinner's article on Oswestry, Ancient and Modern reports his name in association with both ancestors and descendants:^[3] from which the following paragraph is taken:

Not withstanding their English name, the family of Hosier were Welsh by descent. John Hosier of Woodcote, the husband of Elizabeth (or Cicely) Phillips, was the son of Thomas by Alice, daughter of Thomas Trentham, the son of Edward, who first bore the cognomen of Hosier after settling in Shrewsbury, the son of Deicws ab Howel ab Ieuan, fourth son of Ednyved Gam, previously mentioned, and so descended from Tudor Trevor. They amassed a large estate in the neighbourhood of Shrewsbury, and at one time owned Berwick Park, which they sold to the Powis family.

Hew was the son of Ednyfed Gam [Tudur Tr. 13] ab Iorwerth Foel ab Iorwerth Fychan ab Yr Hen Hen Iorwerth. Ednyfed Gam was born, say, 1270. ^[4]

Ienam ab Ednyffed "Gam" was the fifth son of Ednyffed "Gam". ^[5]

Birth Year Estimation

Ieuam's son's estimated birth year is 1360. Thirty years prior would place Ieuam's birth year as 1330. Ieuam's father, however, was born, say, 1270, according to Boyer. ^[4] Splitting the difference on this 90 year spread would have each birth take place when the father was 45, placing Ieuam's birth at, say, 1315.

He lived in Llanfechain. ^[5]

Marriage

Ieuan ab Ednyfed Gam married Gwladus ferch Madog Evchan. ^[2]

He married Gladys ferch Madog Fychan ap Madog Foel. ^[4]

Peter Bartrum ^[6] shows Madog Foel ap Ieuaf of Eglwysegl and his wife Efa ferch Dafydd Hen to be the parents of Madog Fychan, who with his wife Margred ferch Tudur were the parents of Gwladus who married Ien ab Edw Gam.

Issue

Ieuan was the father of Howel, born, say, 1360, who was the father of Deicws. ^[3]

Ieuan was the father of Howell ap Euan. ^[1]
